The short answer: if you delete your account, your saved posts and collections are deleted with it. Both Instagram and TikTok give you about a 30-day window to change your mind by logging back in; after that, they're gone for good. If you only deactivate your account or delete the app from your phone, your saves are safe and come back when you log in.

Delete, Deactivate or Just Remove the App?

These three get mixed up all the time, and they do very different things to your saves:

What you do Instagram saves TikTok Favorites
Delete the app from your phone✓ Safe. Log in again and they're there✓ Safe. Log in again and they're there
Log out✓ Safe✓ Safe
Deactivate your account✓ Safe. Back when you reactivate✓ Safe. Back when you log in

Before You Delete: Save What Matters

1
Download your data

On Instagram: Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information. On TikTok: Settings and privacy → Account → Download your data. The download typically includes a list of your saved posts as links, not the posts themselves.

2
Move the saves you can't lose

Scroll your Saved posts or Favorites and share the ones that matter to Sprink. Your Sprink library lives in your Sprink account, separate from Instagram and TikTok, so it doesn't disappear when you delete them. Add a note with the key details (a recipe's ingredients, a place's name), because a link only opens while the original post is still up.

3
Consider deactivating instead

Just need a break? Deactivate instead. Your account, followers and saves are hidden, not deleted, and everything comes back when you log in.

4
Delete, and note the date

On Instagram, deletion is in Accounts Center → Personal details → Account ownership and control. On TikTok, it's under Settings and privacy → Account. Write down the date: you have about 30 days to change your mind by logging back in.

Menu names change from time to time, so if a step looks slightly different in your app, look for "Accounts Center" on Instagram or "Account" in TikTok's settings.

Common Misconceptions

"Your saves don't belong to the app you saved them in. Before you leave, take the ones that matter with you."

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about saved posts and deleting your account.

What happens to my saved posts if I delete my Instagram account?

They're deleted along with the rest of your account. Instagram gives you a 30-day window after you request deletion; if you log back in during that time, the deletion is canceled and your saved posts and collections are still there. After that, they're gone permanently.

What happens to my TikTok Favorites if I delete my account?

TikTok deactivates your account for 30 days first. If you log back in during that period, your account and Favorites come back. If you don't, the account and everything in it, including your Favorites and collections, is permanently deleted.

Does deleting the Instagram or TikTok app delete my saved posts?

No. Deleting the app from your phone doesn't touch your account. Reinstall the app, log in, and your saved posts and Favorites are exactly where you left them.

Does deactivating my Instagram account delete my saved posts?

No. Deactivating temporarily hides your account. Your saved posts and collections stay attached to it and come back when you reactivate by logging in.

Can I export my saved posts before deleting my account?

You can download a copy of your account information from both apps, which typically includes a list of your saved or favorited posts as links, not the posts themselves. Links only work while the original posts are still up, so for anything important, save the key details somewhere you control.

Take your saves with you

Your Sprink library lives in your Sprink account, not in Instagram or TikTok. Save what matters, add notes, and find it all on your iPhone or the web.
